Opinions on the FDA banning electronic cigarettes?

Any opinions on the electronic cigarettes? I have seen several reports on fox such as http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_OFYGbeE0A and articles on wallstreet, NY times, and yahoo the past few days on the banning of E Cig's. If they do not produce smoke then why would the FDA claim them dangerous and keep regular tobacco industries striving? I mean seriously..
