Question about newborns looking in mirrors?

To make a long story short, my sister in law believes that her two month old cannot be in the bathroom because if he looks in the mirror, that he will develop a split personality disorder (she said some study has found that the child has to be over a year old). However, I have always heard/believed mirrors were good for babies to look at. Is there really a problem with it or no?
